Wise Advice IndeedMy great-grandfather used to tell me, "Don't chase after care-bears because you'll only end up with a Jackie Chan in your tail." I never quite understood his advice until one Kwanza, I was gardening with my best friend Sara. All of a sudden, we found an underground tunnel! It was plucky and spooky sounds came from deep within. Sara saw something interesting inside, jumped in, and I never saw her again. Great-granddaddy was right!
A choice to makeSometimes, when I go outside
and storm clouds thunder in,
I wonder if the earth is hurting-
Shouting to be heard.
And then, at night,
the lone moon rises
with silent sorrow, staring.
What is moonlight,
but the sun's reflected rays?
What is a picture
but a memory of the past?
What has passed
will never be again,
and what has been lost
can never be replaced.
So tell me, child,
do you see a world worth saving?
Or, like all those who came before,
let this, our world, decline the more?
Little too Late, LoveWandering down the road of life
my path yet to unfold;
I chanced upon another
who seemed mightily bold.
He trekked his way
straight to my heart,
and all flew from my mind:
but soon thereafter, he did part;
though I knew he was mine.
I always thought that he'd return,
and we'd unite again.
But then one day
my love-sick heart,
gave out, a bitter end.
He came to see me off,
but alas! It was for naught.
For my own love,
his heart gave out;
my poor, beloved kin.
HummingbirdAs I was walking in the garden,
caught in my own mind;
I saw a fairy flutter by,
thru my peripheral eye.
I almost didn't see the creature,
so swift that it did fly;
and were the sun not shining high,
so graced would not be I.
The light upon her wings, it shone:
the silken iridescent waves
of rippling rainbows,
smooth as stone.
And then, the wondrous fae spun round;
the creature lit upon my crown!
I held my breath uncertainly,
and waited for to see her flee.
But when the moment never came,
I chanced a breath, but scared the fae!
Alas! My queen, fair-well to thee,
Alas, the queen of fairy, she.
